Two Thousand and Eight Cowboy Show. Presented by Tau Phi

Tau Phi Cowboy Show

For 30 years, the men of Tau Phi have entertained the Lipscomb campus with their annual rootin’ tootin’, honky tonkin country music production, the Tau Phi Cowboy Show. With the exception of Singarama, the Cowboy Show is the largest student-led production of the school year. The show is hosted and preformed by the club members who also welcome the voices and performances from some of the most talented young women from Lipscomb’s campus.

Tau Phi Cowboy ShowThe show will take place in the newly renovated Collins Alumni Auditorium creating an atmosphere for a night full of fun and entertainment.  Through the years the show has evolved from a small production to a much larger, professional production. In the early days of the show, members of the club would comprise the band and hold the event outside on the steps of Alumni Auditorium.  Now the show has taken on a much larger persona that seems to grow from year to year.

Tau Phi Cowboy ShowThis year’s show will incorporate some of the biggest country hits from the past ten years, as well as some classic favorites.  Students will cover popular artists such as Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, and Tim McGraw. Songs from legends such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Alan Jackson will also be covered in the show.

Pay Flynn, Nashville singer/songwriter and producer, and his band will be returning to lead the show for the 12th year. Pat has been in the music industry for 25 years and has worked with musicians such as Tim McGraw and Diamond Rio’s Marty Rowe.

Tau Phi Cowboy ShowAndrew Smith is this year’s Cowboy Show director. Leslie Hilburn is the assistant director and Tau Phi alumni Tyler Vickery (08’) and Neil Dalton (07’), will host the show.

The show will take place on October 3 at 7 p.m. during the Lipscomb Family Weekend. The Student Government Association will sponsor a cookout in Bison Square before the show at 6 p.m. Tau Phi is sponsoring an alumni cookout in the Allen Arena Hall of Fame room at 5 p.m.
